MAAS node config

In this video we showed how the BIOS is configured to allow wake on lan/etherwake and how to enable it in PXE boot. Also, it is important to note you need virtual technology capable hardware and you need to have it enabled in the BIOS.

Things to remember from this video:

Make sure boot from the NIC card is enabled, you may have to disable all other boot devices to get this to work every time.

Make sure wake on lan is enabled in the BIOS to allow the machine to be woke up from the network.

When you setup the power options for your nodes from the GUI make sure you enter the MAC address of the card the eth1 MAAS NIC talked to during the PXE boot. If you don't he will not be able to wake him up.

Also, name your nodes something you can easily tell which box it is. Make sure you use the internal domain on the node name. The domain will be whatever your MAAS node name is by default. You can change it in the GUI. In my case my nodes on the power type screen would need to look like node1780.maas This creates a ether_wake power options error as found by one of the youtube viewers.
